The Nakuru County Assembly speaker Susan Kihika has harshly criticized those people supporting the pilot who was caught on video assaulting a police woman in Ndunyu Njeru, Nyandarua County.
The outspoken speaker was reacting to sentiments by a section of people who were supporting British pilot Alistair Llewelyn who manhandled corporal Mercy Wandera for allegedly being negligent on her job.
“I'm astounded that anyone would in any way, shape or form defend the heinous act committed by the helicopter pilot on the lady police officer. It's despicable to say the least. I guarantee you he would never do the same in England or wherever the hell he is from. And if he did, the penalties would be severe,” wrote the speaker on influential Nakuru Analysts WhatsApp group.
The saga of “Ruto’s Pilot” has generated a lot of debate in Nakuru especially on social media with some people supporting the pilot and others condemning what he did.
“The officer was clearly caught on camera just scrolling through her phone while kids run all over the chopper. To me that’s a serious breach of security,” said Kevin Mungai a Nakuru resident who thought the cop and not the pilot was on the wrong.
Kihika who previously used to practice law in the US concluded her terse statement by calling on men to protect women.
“I dare anyone to try do the same in their countries, I bet you there would be no one saying the victim deserved it and I guarantee you would be in prison for a long time then deported, am sickened by the mere suggestion that this hideous act is defensible.
Men, kindly stand up for women. If that was your mother, wife, sister or daughter would you defend this monster?” asked Kihika.
