Mwingi Central MP Eng. Joe Mutambu has accused the opposition of hypocrisy in their war against IEBC.
Speaking during a prize giving ceremony at Mosisa mixed secondary school in Masaba South sub-county, Mutambu told the opposition to follow the right procedures in ousting the electoral commission.
"You cannot disband a constitutional commission using physical means. Even the president has no powers to kick out the commissioners out of office. If you are not satisfied with the commission, you can petition through parliament," he said.
The Wiper Party rebel condemned the demonstrations:
“Am a member of Cord but am not in agreement with the way the opposition is handling the matter. We have seen people losing their lives and others lose property through looting."
Cord has since suspended the Monday demos to give room for negotiations to solve the stalemate.
He urged Abagusii to join hands with the Kamba community in support of the Jubilee in the next general elections.
"The Kisii and Kamba are one people. Its time to shun divisive politics ahead of next general elections. This way, we will secure victory by 60 per cent and therefore there will be no issue of rigging accusations because the margin will be too big."
His Mbooni counterpart, Michael Munyau faulted education Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i, for vesting powers to school heads in managing final examinations.
Munyau said the Kenya National Examination Council was to blame for exam anomalies.
"Matiang'i is acting in contravention to the Basic Education Act. He should streamline KNEC and ensure the cartels behind the leaking of examinations are held responsible. Descending responsibilities to head teachers and principals to manage exams will not end the vice," said the legislator.
TV personality, Caleb Ratemo faulted Nyaribari Masaba parliamentary aspirant Bernard Moseti for chest thumbing and claiming he had been sent by area MP Elijah Moindi to represent him.
He challenged aspirants to first serve people and not weigh themselves with the incumbent leaders.
"Our MP is tired and he sent me here to represent him as he prepares to hand over power to me in the next general elections," Moseti said.
Ratemo said he will traverse the constituency and thereafter the whole county, to hold motivational talks with students aimed at improving education standards.
The school principal, Douglas Moroti Okemwa hailed the guests for gracing the event a move he said will motivate students to work hard.
Mutambu, who was the chief guest, gave a personal contribution of Sh100, 000 to the school and promised to sponsor bright students from the school for university education from next year.
