New things are good but not all good things are new, still, not all new things are good; that's what I'd tell you, you who is giving up on what you have in a bid to get that other thing you saw.

It's just like our Swahili brothers say, 'Usiache mbachao kwa mswala upitao'... Better yet, 'usidharau nazi, maembe ni ya msimu'.

I came thinking about this after watching a certain movie and reflecting on so many things that happen around us.

You see, when you buy a new car, the new experience is so exhilarating, that the car you had before suddenly becomes crappy.

You start wondering why and how you coped. It's not long before it needs repairs and you have to import them, not to talk of the way it guzzles down its fuel.

Then it hits you: The new beautiful car you have has it's cons too. Now you start missing your old vehicle.

As your eyes wander around your office, your eyes fixated on that new girl, that you forget to call your wife/husband/boyfriend/ girlfriend, remember, not all that glitters is gold.

And if you like gold so much, then maybe you should polish the ore in your hands because it's not only funny but embarrassing when your new ride can no longer drive you to the places you want and you go running after the old one you parked in the garage.

A word is enough for the wise....
