Kiambu County commissioner Alex Nkoyo has assured residents that security will be beefed up across the county.

Speaking to journalists on Monday in Kiambu after attending a security meeting, Nkoyo said that proper security measures are being put in place to provide security for all citizens.

While acknowledging several cases of insecurity reported in some parts of the county, Nkoyo warned that police will not tolerate criminals.

Nkoyo said that police will mount 24-hour security patrols across the country to contain crime. He urged police officers commit themselves and step up the fight against crime.

“As law enforcers we have put in place proper measure aimed at making sure that every citizen is guaranteed of his or her safety especially this festive season,” said Nkoyo.

He said that police have mapped out areas perceived to be dens to criminals adding that they will be immediately flushed out.

The commissioner asked the police to decisively deal with criminals or any law-breaker.

Nkoyo asked residents to cooperate with the police and help them fight crime. He also asked elected leaders to support the police as they strive to ensure law and order.

Last week, a section of Gachie residents held peaceful demonstrations over what they described as deteriorating security.

The locals alleged that cases of crime had risen up in the area and urged the law enforcer’s step up their surveillance.

The locals, led by their MCA Erick Mariga, appealed to the Kiambu County security officials to intervene and deal with criminals allegedly causing havoc in the area.
