A section of Kisii County MCAs allied to ODM party have cautioned Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka against speaking on behalf of the community.
This comes after Mr Onyonka recently said at a function that the community will support the Jubilee government in 2017 polls.
The MCAs led by majority whip Henry Moracha warned the outspoken MP of ‘imposing’ himself to Gusii people and demanded that he apologizes.
“As MCAs, we are really disappointed that at this time and era someone can impose himself to people. We you go out generalising your thinking on behalf of the community that we will support Jubilee then it means you lack something special. He should apologize to the people because there is no time we have ever sat as leaders and decided to back a certain party or candidate,” he said.
Kiogoro MCA slammed Mr Onyonka and accused him of ‘reaping ‘from Jubilee government by positioning himself as the spokesperson of the entire community.
“He is a dangerous legislator and people know him. He can go out and reap from Jubilee government in the name of the community. He must understand that we don’t have a spokesperson and when time comes, we will elect one,” said Mr Samuel Apoko.
Mr Koina Onyancha of Bombaba Borabu urged Gusii leaders to hold reconciliation meeting and appoint leaders who will represent their interests at national level.
“We may come from different parties but we need our own leaders who can represent the community’s interest at the national level. We don’t recognize Mr. Onyonka because we have never done any election unless he elected himself,” he added.
The three MCAs were speaking at a fundraiser at Bombaba Borabu ward on Sunday in the aid of a local church.
