More than ten youth groups in Nyaribari Chache constituency have been awarded funds courtesy of the Uwezo Fund kitty to enable them implement their entrepreneurial projects.
Speaking during the disbursement of the cheques, Nyaribari Chache constituency Uwezo Fund coordinator Purity Mogere confirmed that the groups were awarded Sh100,000 each.
She said that majority of the groups comprised of youths but there were also women groups and those of people with living with disability within the sub-county who benefitted from the funds.
The officer added that before the money was released to the beneficiaries, they had to go through a rigorous training.
The training was on how the money can be used to generate profits and still be in a position to remit back so that more groups within the sub-county can also have a chance of benefiting.
She advised the groups that had applied for the funds but never benefited to iron out the small issues on the requirements that were not very clear about their groups and reapply.
"Hundreds of business plans that were presented by various groups in this constituency are a clear indication of our youths potential that has not been tapped due to lack of capital," Said Mogere.
"but now that the government is empowering such youths courtesy of Uwezo fund, they now have hopes of making their innovative ideas a reality for a bright future,” she added.
She further reminded youths and women not to limit themselves to Uwezo Fund but try other avenues of getting financial capital for their entrepreneurial activities like Youth Fund, Women Enterprise Fund and other financial institutions that offer assistance at manageable interest rates to enable start operating.
