The week ended on a high note for a group of young people from Ngomongo area in Bahati sub-county when a businessman from the area procured a briquette making machine for them.
The businessman, John Thuo said he had visited the group two days earlier and had been touched by their plight.
“The young men shared their plight with me. They told me of the challenges they have been going through in trying to make ends meet and I purposed to help them,” Thuo said.
He adds that he shared several options with the youth on what he could do for them and finally settled on the charcoal making machine.
“The product is easily marketable, the raw materials are readily available and no special skills are required to start the venture,” said Thuo as he delivered the briquetting machine to the youths two days later.
Sylvia Wangari who is a resident of the area and who was present at the event thanked the businessman on behalf of the youth and praised him for giving them a long term solution.
“I take the opportunity to thank Mr. Thuo for providing a long-term solution to our youth. This is far much better than giving handouts to our youth and it will also impact positively on our environment,” said Sylvia. The machine uses soil and charcoal dust as its raw materials.
Daniel Waweru, said that the machine will not only keep the young men busy, but will also keep them away from drugs.
