Kisumu County Executive Committee member for Information Communication Technology Michael Onyango has challenged youth groups seeking county funds to have diverse membership in order to have the face of the county.

Mr Onyango said Kisumu County is made up of 35 wards, and that all the youth from all the wards should benefit from the county funds meant for the youth.

Speaking on Friday during the launch of Australian government sponsored entrepreneurship training program aimed at benefiting 100 youth from the county, Onyango criticised youth groups which have been approaching the county government with poor representation.

“Kisumu is made up of 35 wards and not Kisumu Central alone, and all our projects have to reflect the 35 wards. It is therefore prudent that we have that in mind while seeking county funds,” he said.

Last week through his ministry, Onyango launched an ICT training project targeting 700 school drop-outs.

He said the project had to give opportunities to all the wards equally so as to allow the county to develop in a uniform manner.

“We are headed to a digital economy and we would not wish any part of the county to be left behind and that is why I insist that I will not listen to any group seeking our attention if it does not show the face of Kisumu,” he added.
