Youth in Uasin Gishu have lauded the county government's efforts in empowering them with the skills that help eradicate unemployment.
Speaking during an interview with youth after a training in Eldoret on Thursday, Dominic Juma, one of those attending the training said that the advice they received from their county leaders will enable them make concrete decisions on various income generating ventures.
“The basic skills I have acquired mostly on registering business, has made me realise, how easy it is to start a small scale business as long as you have permit," said Juma.
“I have come to realise that embracing competition in our small scale business will enable us earn income, that means we should not hesitate to invest in business,” said Kipkoech Mibei, another youth.
Mibei said that the county should host such trainings severally so as to empower more youth who were not present during the event.
“Such trainings motivate graduates to come to the realisation that even their leaders know their existence and what they need to succeed in life,” said Mibei.
On Thursday, the Department of Education, Culture, Youth training Social Service and Sports carried out a youth entrepreneurship training for the youth from all sub counties in the region to provide them with the background on importance of basic business and registration of business.
The occasion was graced by the County Executive for Education, Culture, Youth affairs and Social Services Enock Muingei.
