Nakuru youth advisor to the governor Kimani Wa Kimani has called on bar and liquor store owners to observe the alcohol liquor laws and regulation to avoid clashing with local authorities.

Mr Kimani said this will help curb the issue of underage drinking.

“It is clearly stipulated that alcohol should not be sold to children. If they can regulate the age of the people drinking and ensure that Identity Cards are provided before beer is distributed, we would not have teenagers drinking all over,” he added

Kimani was speaking to the press on Tuesday where he also said that the drinking hours should be held strictly.

“It is not up to the police to come and hunt for the bar owners but they should take personal responsibility," he said.

According to Kimani, bar owners should also respect the regulations.

Kimani called on parents to gauge their children and understand their behaviours.

“It is up to the parents to guide and counsel their children in all that they do. In fact they should be at the forefront following up on the issues that have been affecting them,” he added.
