Youths in Thika were on Monday challenged to form Saccos that will enable them invest in their money at an early stage.

Speaking at a youth meeting today at Uzima hall in Thika that aimed at educating youths in the area of entrepreneurship and saving, Gatuanyaga Ward MCA and Leader of Minority Ms Cecilia Wamaitha said that youths should develop a saving culture at an early age in order to help them in the future.

She said that the best way to save is not only by using banks but investing in money generating projects in a Sacco.

Wamaitha said that youths should emulate women in the area in development and money generating projects. She said that by coming together to form Saccos and registering them, they are able to sum up money by bringing their amounts together and even think of engaging in a certain business as a sacco such as farming.

She said that by so doing, they will have many more ideas and projects that will help them grow financially. She noted this will also curb idleness and unemployment and might end up employing youths.

"I want to challenge the youth to form Saccos or join Saccos. This will help them save and also by engaging in Sacco projects, more money will be created hence improving their financial abilities," said Wamaitha.

She called on the youths to ensure when they attend such entrepreneurial forums and not only attend but also always practise what they learn in them.
