Speaking on Thursday during the North Rift Youth Intercounty Forum, Abdi advised youths to refrain from being used by politicians and instead asked them to participate in constructive businesses.

"I urge youths who constitute over 60 per cent of Kenya’s population not to allow themselves to be used by politicians as a stepping stone to get into power," he said.

He said youths have the potential to start businesses and participate in agriculture instead of depending on politicians to give them handouts to commit crimes.

"Youths are commonly used by politicians to disrupt meetings, cause chaos among others, since they are idle and to break that norm, they should keep themselves busy by starting small businesses," he said.

"I challenge youths across the country to get serious with their lives and participate in constructive businesses that will improve their livelihoods,” he said.

He warned youths who involve themselves in criminal activities that they will be arrested and prosecuted.

"Youths are the leaders of tomorrow and we will make sure that they are protected for our country to have a brighter future,” he said.
