Youths from Machakos County have been advised to avoid being used by politicians who are out to satisfy their selfish interests.
Speaking in Kangundo Town on Monday, Kangundo parliamentary seat aspirant, Rose Wambua urged young people to be on the guard against politicians who may use them to climb the social ladder only to ignore them after voting them in during the forthcoming elections.
“Youths from are the majority of the Kenyan population and hence have the ability to change the political tilt in this country. However, the problem is that they are readily used by selfish politicians to achieve their interests,” she noted.
“When such politicians are elected, they forget about their election pledges. Please be watchful as the next election approaches,” she cautioned.
“Youth should refuse being used as bargaining tools by some selfish politicians from this community who are eyeing free cash handouts,” said Wambua.
She challenged youth who haven’t acquired National Identity Cards and Voter’s Cards, to do so in large numbers for them to be in a position to make informed decisions come the next General Election.
“I am challenging those who have reached 18 years and don’t have ID Cards and Voter’s Cards to acquire them so that they can elect good leaders in 2017,” she said.
