Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka is in trouble after appearing to be very friendly to officials from the Jubilee coalition.
Supporters of the ODM legislator want the Opposition party to punish him for being too close to the ruling regime.
The Orange Democratic Movement youth official in the area, Peter Nyangweso, who was speaking on behalf of the young supporters, said the party should act fast and send Mr Onyonka away, using existing laws.
“He (Richard Onyonka) should be expelled from the party and subjected to a by-election,” the ODM official said, adding that they had given the party four weeks to act on the matter, before they explore ‘other alternatives’.
He said that for the party to remain intact ahead of next year’s national election, there is need to enforce discipline, to ensure the stronghold is not lost.
The official defended the suggestion to subject the lawmaker to a by-election, saying that the party is assured of retaining the seat, since the region is a ‘CORD zone’.
“There is nothing to fear because this is a CORD zone. Even if we go for a by-election, we are sure of a victory.”
