The Kenya Power and Lighting Company are set to open a complaint desk to cater for application and installation complaints, in the slum upgrading project by the KPLC in conjunction with the World Bank.
This desk comes following increased complaints from slum dwellers, who have complained about receiving electricity in their houses.
Speaking in Mwanzo ground in Langas on Tuesday, Eldoret KPLC North Rift regional marketing officer Jonah Owade said that they had lots of complaints from some of the locals, and were working on how to sort them out.
“We will make a registration form which will include; your name, location, telephone number national identification card number and your complaint,” Owade said.
Some of the complaint he noted were related to; consumers being requested to sink electricity poles for them to have electricity connected, with other customers complaining of delay from KPLC even after clearing all requirments.
Owade was speaking during a forum between the KPLC and residents of Langas slum area, where he further urged the residents to apply for electricity through the slum upgrading project before the July 31 deadline.
