The Independent Medico – Legal Unit is set to set up specialised forensic pathology trainings in medical schools around the country.

Speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday, Titus Ngulungu, a consultant pathologist with the unit said that this was in a bid to develop more experts in the field of pathology and Forensic studies.

Ngulungu also said that this would be the first training to be done on the same in the country, citing that not even the medical schools in the county offer the classes in specialised pathology.

“Currently, we have no medical school offering specialised pathology as a course in Kenya. We need to redress this state,” Ngulungu stated.

He urged students to show up for the training once it had been rolled out into the medical schools.

Ngulungu also noted that the number of forensic experts in the country was low, and there was need for addition of more, hence the need for students enrolling for this training.

Ngulungu was speaking at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital during a training seminar to students on Forensic Medical examination and documentation of torture.

The training was sponsored by I.M.L.I, the first of its kind.
