More than 120 exhibitors have confirmed participation at the Nakuru Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show, set to be opened in three weeks’ time.

Speaking on Wednesday, ASK Central Rift Branch chairman John Karanja said the number is higher than last year.

He said some of the 33 new exhibitors who have confirmed participation are Ewaso Ng'iro, the National Youth Fund, Emboita Hotel, Star Times, Pembe Mills among others.

Thirty-six parastatals will also be exhibiting their products and services during the weeklong trade fair.

Karanja added that all the major permanent stands have already been sold out and assured visitors of adequate security.

''We are taking security issues seriously considering the threats posed by terror gangs. I want to assure all exhibitors and the public that security has been given first priority," Karanja said.

Unlike last year where the show contracted an IT firm for e-ticketing, Karanja said the Nakuru ASK now owns the process to ensure accountability.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, in his capacity as the ASK patron, is expected to officially open the show on July 4. The fair is expected to run from July 2-6 where adults will be paying Sh250 while children will pay Sh200 to enter.

There is a special and lower fee for people living with disabilities to encourage them visit the show.
