The National Drought management Authority Chief Executuve Officer James Oduor has revealed that about three millions Kenyans are affected by man made and natural disasters every year.
Mr Oduor said disasters such as drought, fires, floods, diseases epidemics and terrorism have been increasing frequency over time hence the need for the country to be prepared to handle them.
He attributed the increase in the frequency of the disaster to climate change, poverty and large population.
"The increase in the frequency of disasters are a result of climate change, poverty and large population," said Mr Oduor.
Speaking to press in Naivasha town on Wednesday, Mr Oduor said the country's vulnerability to these disasters and lack of preparedness has contributed to the damage caused by the disasters which in the past have cost the country billions through destruction of livelihoods, economic activities and development.
"Lack of preparedness has contributed to the huge lose of properties and life," he said.
