All victims from Mavoko Sub county identified to be having serious alcohol withdrawal effects will be offered free counseling and medical treatment, courtesy of the national government.
This was disclosed by the area's Deputy County Commissioner, Kodeck Makori, at a press conference in his office on Friday.
"All people identified to be having serious alcohol withdrawal effects in Mavoko will be offered free counseling and medical services by the state," said Makori.
Makori revealed the process of identification of the victims with acute cases from the region had started in all homes and villages within the sub county with help of the local administration, members of Nyumba Kumi Initiative and those from community policing groups.
He said once a victim was identified, is immediately rushed to the nearest government hospital or health facility so as to receive free treatment and counseling services until he fully recovers.
The commissioner said once the victims recover, they would be supported and integrated back into the community through the National Youth Service and be given capital to start small and medium businesses to earn credible livelihoods.
Makori however called on members of the public from communities in which the victims come from to help identify those in critical conditions as a result of alcohol withdrawal to enable the majority benefit from the government's initiative.
He said that such persons should neither be condemned nor rejected by the public arguing they can reform and be productive enough to support their families and help raise the country's economy.
