Kisumu County health practitioners have been challenged to organise more training sessions to educate the public on lifestyle diseases.

The county medical lifestyle disease analyst Eve Koyo speaking on Wednesday at the Kisumu County Hospital said there is need to educate the public on the best ways to curb lifestyle diseases.

She appealed to the county government to allocate funds towards the trainings.

She further asked medical practitioners to educate the public on proper eating habits and healthy living to curb lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure and stroke among others.

Koyo further noted that in western countries, people eat a lot of meat,vegetable oils, dairy products, alcoholic drinks and sugary foods; dietary habits that have led to an increase in medical cases such as breast, lung, and colorectal cancers amongst others.

Her counterpart, Judith Odindo, a medical practitioner also stated that in order to keep lifestyle diseases at bay, it is a must to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet regime and also exercise often.

Odindo challenged the county government to have more frequent education session that would promote proper health standards among the public.
