Nakuru County Administration Police (AP) Commandant Francis Kirathe has warned rogue police officers saying that they risk being interdicted if they contravene the rules.

Speaking in Nakuru Town on Thursday, Kirathe said that appropriate action will be taken against officers who break the law.

He said that police officers are supposed to be custodians of the law and that any form of deviation will result to severe punishment.

“Rogue police officers should know that their days in the services will no longer be required if they fail to adhere to the regulations,” said Kirathe.

The Nakuru AP commandant warned officers against drinking saying that by drinking they risk their lives and that of Kenyans which they are supposed to guard.

He said that the public has been complaining over cases where officers are found drunk while carrying their rifles adding that such cases endanger the lives of citizens.

The AP commandant was speaking in relation to a case where a drunken police officer was caught on camera threatening to shoot mechanics at Bondeni slums in Nakuru.

The AP officer was excessively drunk and was later disarmed by another police officer.
