Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has advised women in her constituency to apply for the various funds provided by the government to promote their economic status.
Speaking in Thika Town on Monday, the legislator called on the women to apply for loans from both the Uwezo and Education funds to start businesses and also educate their children.
She said the funds are meant to support them to start projects that would deliver them from poverty and economic bondage.
Ng’ang’a also advised women to invest the monies in constructive projects that will improve their lives thereby ending their dependence on their spouses for everything.
“We are far from the dependency era and now every woman is doing her best to sustain her own needs rather waiting for help from their husbands. Let’s apply for the funds and improve our living standards,” Ng’ang’a urged.
The MP said that the women should avoid settling so much into groups and learn to do something for their own as men do, cautioning them against pyramid schemes.
She has further vowed to empower women who have been lagging behind in her constituency in terms of development.
