Marginalised groups in Kuresoi South Constituency have been encouraged to apply for the various funds being provided by the county and national governments to empower themselves economically.

Addressing residents in Kuresoi town on Saturday, area MP Zakayo Cheruiyiot told marginalised groups not to shy away from seeking the funds.

The MP said the government is giving out loans through the Uwezo Fund, Youth and Women Enterprise funds, which he said can help transform the lives of many residents.

“Youths, women and persons living with disabilities should not fear applying for the funds and the government tenders set aside for them,” he said.

The MP said that empowering marginalised groups will provide ground for development.

Cheruiyiot observed that the constituency has lagged behind in development because women, youths and the disabled have not been empowered.

He observed that the high unemployment and poverty rate in the county will reduce if young people apply for the monies.

The MP said that unemployment remains a big challenge among the youth in the constituency.

He asked the government to sensitise the marginalised groups on the availability of the funds for them to apply.

Meanwhile, the legislator has asked the county government to fast-track repair and renovation of roads. He said that some of the roads in the constituency need urgent repair.
