Police in Ruiru are pursuing three armed robbers who escaped with Sh100,000 from an Mpesa shop in Ruiru town on Tuesday.
According to the Mpesa owner Ms Christine Nyaguthii, the armed robbers were three and had a white toyota saloon car. She explained that they parked their car in front of her shop before two of them walked in as normal customers.
She explained that the two walked in and one of them removed a pistol and pointed at her as the other stood at the door to block anyone coming in.
She said that the robber then took all the money. "He came in and took all the money in the drawer. I had Sh100,000. They walked out threatening to shoot me if I tried to scream for help," said Nyaguthii.
Confirming the incident, Ruiru OCPD Mr Isaac Thuranira said that the robbery happened 300 metres from the police station. He said that the matter was reported immediately and police acted immediately. He said that a CCTV camera installed in a supermarket next to the Mpesa shop will help the police to identify the suspects.
"We are investigating on the matter and we soon are going to arrest the suspects. Criminals who conduct such a crime at day time are very dangerous and we have to act immediately," said Thuranira.
