A woman who assaulted her neighbour was fined Sh 30,000 or an alternative of six month in jail with liberty to appeal in fourteen days by a Thika Court. Beatrice Mugure, 37, and a mother of two from Kiandutu slums was accused of having engaged in a fight with her neighbour, Janet Wambui, after a disagreement of who should use the water tap first at their rental house.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Stephen Mbugi, Mugure pleaded guilty to the allegation but explained how the two had been feuding on water and loo usage. The plot owner, Johnstone Muriuki, told the court how severally he tried to separate them from frequent fights in vain. Wambui, who had serious injuries on her face, told the court that the accused used her hands and a stone to damage her skin. 

While reading the ruling, the magistrate warned the two against engaging in rows, and further asked the plot owner to organise how the two would use different taps to halt the feuds
