Kisumu County Assembly temporary Speaker, Baker Ombogo has warned assembly chairperson committees against failing to offer answers to queries from the members.
Ombogo said there is laxity within some committees and the house will not tolerate such laziness.
“I will not tolerate incompetence, let chairperson of committees to ensure they deliver on their mandate,” he said.
This emerged on Thursday afternoon during the assembly session after Ahero ward representative Maurice Aloo notified the house that a question he had asked more than three times in the house has not been answered.
“Mr Speaker, I raised this question several times and the committee concerned has not offered any answer, this points out how incompetent this committee is, can you make a ruling on this matter,” asked Aloo.
Another member nominated MCA, Pamela Odhiambo told the house that her question has been pending since April this year.
The two MCAs faulted some committee chairpersons for being incompetent and not able to deliver on their work as required by the house.
Ombogo concurred with them and warned the chairpersons of various committees to ensure they presented answers to the queries in good time.
He further took a swipe at members who asked questions on the floor of the house but fail to submit written copies to the Clerk.
Ombogo directed such questions will not be answered and told members to prepare written questions before raising them on the floor of the house.
“Let this be clear to the members that no question will be answered if there is no written submission to the clerk,” ruled Ombogo.
