Mavoko Assistant County Commissioner, David Tegutwa, has warned illegal beer dealers who close businesses to evade inspection.

Addressing the press in Athi River town on Saturday, Tegutwa said mots illegal beer traders in Mavoko close their businesses to avoid arrest.

"I highly suspect that the culprits have got either their eyes or ears among the officers from different departments who participate in the bar, pubs and liquor shops inspections within this region," said Tegutwa.

Tegutwa said depending on the dealers behaviors' it is obvious that they were not  doing something right.

He said such traders were engaging in beer businesses without valid permits to operate the trade.

The commissioner said it had become difficult to pin down proprietors of such joints given that they were always closed down whenever the inspections and crack downs were conducted.

"Liquor licensing is a devolved function, the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government assists the county government where necessary to effectively and successfully implement the function," said Tegutwa.
