Speaking at the hospital, Mr John Songol, the medical superintendent Uasin Gishu District Hospital said that they were doing this exercise seeing that most asthmatic people in the county are not aware of the right way to use their inhalers.

“Patients have inhalers. But asthma patients are still dying. Most of them use their inhalers wrongly leading to no impact in their bodies," Songol said. Songol also added that the demonstrations were being done to individual patients to ensure that each one of them understood how to use the inhaler.

Patients attended the workshop in large numbers.

“We actually got more patients than we expected. But our joy is to see that deaths caused by asthma are reduced or even not present." Songol said. Those with other refractory problems were also helped out and their ailments treated or advised accordingly. The Workshop, treatments and consultations were done free of charge. Doctors from the district hospital and representatives from CIPLAT Company did the workshops, demonstrations and treatment.

The workshop is to be done in Moi teaching and referral hospital later this week.Uasin Gishu District Hospital on Wednesday conducted a one day training workshop on Asthma treatment and management.
