Athi River Deputy County Commissioner Kodeck Makori has encouraged youth in the area to turn up in numbers to try their lack in the up coming Kenya Defence Forces recruitment.

Addressing journalists in his office on Wednesday, Makori said the recruitment scheduled to take place at the Kenya Meat Commission grounds is an opportunity for successful youth from the region to join the forces.

"The state is committed to providing different various opportunities to the youth across the sub-county, not only limited to job creation but also developing skills," said Makori.

Makori said the youth should take advantage of the opportunity given that the recruitment was going to be conducted by government officials within the locals proximity.

He said the various police forces had offered job opportunities to thousands of youth from the region thereby equally providing livelihoods to several families hence should neither be ignored nor looked down upon.

Makori however urged local youth who hail from other regions to travel to their villages early and equally try their lack as the recruitment is going on across the country.

He said the youth should be law abiding, focused and hard working arguing those who become honest to others and themselves stand better chances of becoming successful in whatever they do.

The commissioner also urged the youth who will turn up for the KDF recruitment exercise in Athi River on Friday to take it seriously so as to qualify for absorption into the forces.
