Women in Kiambu County have been urged to avoid rushing for bank loans to finance their businesses.
Speaking to Twaweza Women group on Tuesday morning at Mavuno meeting hall in Thika town, Beatrice Nyokabi, a banker from Jamii Sacco told the women to instead save their little money in chamas and Saccos.
Nyokabi advised women to finance their projects using their own savings as they attract less interest rate as compared to bank loans.
She cited that the security guaranteed on small savings is less than using bank loans which is costly to secure.
Nyokabi noted that Twaweza Women Group launched on Sunday last week by Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a would grow and go far in terms of business and urged women to join the Sacco to become shareholders.
She called on women to support their own Sacco and own it in order to attract other investors.
‘Twaweza Women self-help group is a group that can go even beyond Jamii Sacco where I work if only you are committed, ready to work without fear and if only you give God the first priority, she cited adding that Jamii Sacco was open to all women from the self-help group whether employed or in business provided they interested to grow their savings.
She advised women to support one another to grow in small businesses that have future expansion to be able to generate wealth and grow the economy.
