Kisii County First Lady Elizabeth Ongwae has warned school girls against engaging in pre-marital sex.
Instead Ongwae says schoolgirls should concentrate in their education to be future responsible citizens and role models in the society.
She regretted many school girls engaging in premarital sex would not only cut short their education through teenage pregnancies and early marriages, but also exposes them to the dangers of contracting Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). This she said would ruin their lives and shatter any chances of academic or professional advancement.
Speaking at Ibeno Church of God Primary School grounds on Sunday, Ongwae cautioned young school girls against gambling with their education by engaging in irresponsible sex.
"I am warning young school girls from this community and the whole County to abstain from pre-marital sex, instead let them direct their energy and time to working hard in school," she said.
She observed young girls risk bearing teenage parenthood responsibilities at tender ages before they are mature and psychologically prepared to take parental roles.
She was speaking during a sanitary pads donation event targeting school girls from Ibeno CoGl, Ibeno DEB and Rikendo primary schools in Ibeno Ward.
