Two people were on Monday arraigned before a Nakuru court for stealing from NIC bank. Kennedy Okoth and Gladys Ndinda are accused of allegedly stealing Sh4,107,406 by virtue of being employees of NIC Bank on diverse dates from January, 2013 and July 31 in NIC bank in Nakuru Town.

On the second account, Ndinda faced a charge of stealing Sh766,014 on diverse dates between January 3 and August 8 at the NIC Bank in Nakuru.

According the police, the two worked as tellers the bank and its through the transaction that they manage to steal the said amount.

They were arrested on Friday last week. Their lawyer, Steve Kabita urged the court to give them a reasonable bond terms saying that the accused have stayed long in police custody after they were denied a police bond.

“I urge the court to give a reasonable bond terms and cash bail, the accused spend the weekend in custody after they were denied a police bond, she has a two month old baby,” she said

Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, they pleaded not guilty and were given a surety bond of Sh500,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000

The case will be mentioned on August 27 and heard on September 24.
