Bar owners in Yatta town, Machakos County have been warned against extending drinking hours and told they risk losing operating licenses.
Addressing the press on Monday, Yatta OCPD Mildred Achieng' cautioned that those who will break the law will be arraigned in Court and also risk cancellation of their operating licenses.
Parents have also been urged to guard their children during the ongoing teachers' strike to ensure they do not engage in alcoholism lest they be arrested by police.
“Any bar operator that will be caught selling alcoholic drinks to persons below 18 years will lead have their licenses terminated. Let's operate as required to avoid any inconveniences,” Achieng' said.
The police boss urged members of public to assist the police in the fight against illicit brew in the area, saying that they have information on the brewers going against the law and they will soon be brought to book.
Security officers in the region have been conducting night patrols and apprehending anyone caught idling or contravening the laws.
The officer said that criminals hide in bars and restaurants mostly at night pretending to be drinking yet they are identifying their targets.
