Kisii County residents have  been told to be aware of any environmental hazards and put measures that can overcome them due to El Nino likely to start in October.

Speaking On Monday at Mwembe in Kisii county, Community Clinical officer Mr Kepha King’oina faulted some residents for not taking serious in environmental matters without knowing that there will be an outbreak of diseases that can cause death.

He accuses some of the landlords who have built near the riverbanks without knowing that when it rains heavy it is danger to their tenants.

“There is some of landlords who do not care about the environment and they have build near river banks and when it there is soil eruption it  will cause danger to residents,” said King’oina

King’oina noted that most toilets from this places are directed to the rivers what has lead to an increase to typhoid.

“Most residents in this place they use water from this rivers, but unfortunately this water is no longer save as it has been contaminated," added King’oina

Therefore he has advised residents to be aware of any outbreak of disease as he urges the authority to put measures before it starts raining.
