Businessmen in Kisii County have been warned to be wary of amorphous business associations purporting to represent the business community members in addressing issues affecting them.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Kisii County chairman Benjamin Onkoba has warned members of the business community from the county against falling prey to questionable business associations and groupings out to extort them of their hard earned money in the pretext of championing for their interests, a role being undertaken by KNCCI.
Speaking to Hivisasa.com in Kisii town, Onkoba lamented mushrooming of business associations in the region which are misleading unsuspecting members of the business community that they represent their interests and can channel their grievances to the Kisii County Government for action.
"It is interesting to hear some amorphous business associations and groupings misleading and even swindling unsuspecting members of the business community of their funds in the name of fighting for the traders' interests, yet that role belongs to KNCCI," said Onkoba.
Onkoba challenged individuals behind such questionable associations to either register a chamber for the business community members they purport to represent or leave the traders alone and stop soliciting funds from the traders.
