Boda boda riders in Uasin Gishu County have been urged to work closely with the security personnel in the fight against insecurity.
Speaking in His office on Thursday, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan said that there have been increased cases of boda bodas being involved in crimes, helping gangs to pursue their mission.
He further requested them to report any suspicious persons to the nearest police station in order to control the situation.
“Boda boda riders have been the major target by robbers in town. It is time for them to take part in the security initiative that will help security officers flush out robbers in their midst and make the business clean and reliable,” he said.
He urged all boda boda riders to be vigilant, and always be their brothers’ keepers, since security always begins with them and if one hides a criminal, he is also an accomplice.
“Any Bodaboda rider who will liaise with criminals is a threat to the county's security and we will deal with him squarely, and I urge them to be on the forefront in providing relevant information to my officers for them to be arrested since we will not leave any stone unturned until Kenyans’ security is guaranteed,” he added.
