Police in Kikuyu are investigating an incident where the body of a teenage girl was found in a nearby bush in Ondiri today.
Confirming the incident in his office on Friday, Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu said that the girl's body was discovered by area residents who reported to the police.
He said that the body had serious injuries all over adding they suspect that the girl was cut with pangas and knives before she died.
The police boss said that they suspect that the girl was raped before being brutally murdered. He said that a missing teenager had been reported to the police a week ago and they suspect she's the one.
Maweu said that police are investigating the matter and they will soon arrest those who were involved in such brutal killings. "The body has been taken to Kikuyu Hospital where a post mortem will take place as the police also continue with investigations," said Maweu.
He said that parents should also take caution against sending their children to the shops at night as cases of missing children have in the past been reported to be during the night.
Ms Elizabeth Wanjiku a resident in the area said that they woke up to a rude shock when they spotted the body. She said that such a crime really shows how brutal criminals can be.
Wanjiku said that she was afraid of living in the area after seeing such killings stating that she fears for her life and that of her daughter.
"These criminals are aware security is tight in Kikuyu town but they are certain in the interior security is not that tight. We are appealing to the police to tighten our security to ensure us of our safety," said the resident.
