According to the residents the Chief David Ogega failed to give them a prior notice to clear from the land and used his powers to forcibly evict them besides selling their property.

They asked the government to compel the chief to compensate them besides calling for his sacking on allegation that he had contravened the chapter six of the constitution.

“Public servants must have integrity of the highest order and therefore it is unfair for someone to forcibly evict us from the land and auction our trees that we had massively invested in,” said Peter Mwancha, a victim.

They however admitted to have developed a government land but insisted that they should have been informed earlier to clear their possessions without being coerced.

“He just forced us out and that is want we are countering. The problem would have been if we failed to vacate the land after evictions order which however not given,” added Dinah Mogambi.

However on Monday, Ogega said the affected individuals had failed to comply with a decision that area residents arrived at in a Baraza earlier this month.

“I have done nothing wrong because this was our collective decision in a Baraza. The government wants to set a dispensary in the region and all residents were notified. May be those complaining never attended the Baraza,” Ogega said
