Children from Borabu constituency will have to attend moral teaching lessons every Friday over this holiday that will be chaired by experts in psychology.
On Friday, several children and their mothers gathered in Menyenya primary school to attend the opening ceremony of the counselling exercise that was launched by area MP Ben Momanyi with an objective of teaching children good morals.
Speaking to Hivisasa.com, committee organiser Peter Arisi said the counselling exercise will be done every Friday till schools reopen and all community members were invited since it is an initiative of the MP.
“The counselling exercise has been done for the last two years and we have seen tremendous change in our childrens’ behavior and their approach to issues in the society. It is fully paid for by the area MP and we have already received key speakers who will attend the four sessions,” he said.
Mr Arisi urged area parents to fully take advantage of the exercise and ensure their children gets the optimum results of it.
“Since no payments are made, this is an opportunity for parents to take the full responsibility and ensure their children get the maximum out of it. It has worked and we are expecting more participants across the constituency since we have vehicles transporting children for free,” he added.
Area parents lauded organisers and vowed to mobilise their children to attend the clinic for the sake of moral uprightness.
“It’s a good thing and we have seen children benefit from it. I expect that parents are behind the exercise and all will be just OK,” said Mrs Eucabeth Omache.
