Youths from Borabu constituency who fail to score grades that can allow them join institutions of higher learning and middle level colleges have been urged to take advantage of technical colleges.

Speaking at Menyenya grounds on Tuesday during the first anniversary of Dr Kambi Foundation, the foundation’s proprietor Dr Kambi Nyandoro said village polytechnics were essential in promoting technical skills and preparing youths to join the competitive job market.

According to him, the polytechnics were looked down upon by a number of youths, with majority of them opting to go to urban centers to work as casual laborers while village polytechnics remained literally empty.

“We have to take village polytechnics seriously. They offer us with opportunities in technical skills which are dearly needed by many sectors. Youths should prefer getting technical training than going to urban centers to work as casual laborers. It is fundamental that they (youths) join these technical institutions to empower themselves and others,” Dr Nyandoro said.

He offered to clear fees for youths who were ready to join village polytechnics in the entire Borabu constituency as a way of promoting dissemination of technical skills in the region.

“I am ready to pay school fees for those who are willing to join all technical schools around Borabu come January. We want to promote the technical skills dissemination in our region,” said the aspiring Borabu Member of Parliament.
