A class seven pupil was on Thursday brutally beaten and died while undergoing treatment at Chaaria Mission hospital in Kithimani area of Yatta sub-county.
Patrick Kibaara, the deceased's elder brother, reported to the Kithimani police station that he found his young brother brutally beaten and left lying helpless on a side road near their home and he called for help from the neighbours.
Confirming the incident, Yatta OCPD said that Nicholas Mulei, 14, was attacked by unknown assailants at his home village Mwanyani location, Kithimani area.
“The pupil from Mbuta primary school was in a critical condition when he was taken to the hospital and efforts to stabilize him were futile,” said Kipsang.
He added that the police visited the scene and took the necessary information and the investigation is ongoing while the body awaits postmortem in Chaaria Mission hospital Mortuary.
“Anyone arrested will be arraigned in the court of law and charged accordingly and we ask for the public support in investigating this incident,” Kipsang told reporters.
