Business community within Kisumu county have expressed their joy after teachers were asked to report back to school on Monday.
According to small and medium business owners in the town, the strike had greatly affected them because most of their businesses depended on students.
One hotelier in Nyalenda area where many schools are situated said they incurred losses due to the strike.
Maurine Auma said most students are the main customers and almost all were out of school but thank God they are back in school.
“I had already bought food stuffs and hoped that within this short period that the students will resume to school I will recover the losses,” she said.
An ice vendor Mark Omondi said that business will now be normal since their customers, mainly students are back in school.
Motorcycle and Matutu drivers were not left out, most claimed business has not been good for them since the teachers went on strike.
A matutu driver operating from Rabuor area to town said most of their customers were teachers and students who board vehicles on a daily basis.
“Teachers and students take the vehicles to town every morning and in the evening they also board the same vehicles,” said Benson Kalima.
