Police on Thursday found cartons of outlawed beer in a pub in Kithimani where a man was stabbed by a barman as he had a drink on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at Munyaka bar in Kyeleni Trading Centre, Kithimani.

Police had been informed about the incident by area Chief John Musyoni after he got a tip off from a resident about the incident.

Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said the incident occurred at 9.30pm where the deceased, Antony Murianki, 31, picked a quarrel with Charles Mbaka, 26, the bar man who stabbed him.

The late Murianki died on his way to hospital.

The suspect who tried to escape after the incident was caught by police and arrested at Kyeleni Trading Centre in a residential house.

Police have commenced investigations into the incident.

The deceased was taken to the Yatta Level Four Hospital Morgue.

Following the incident, the police in the area in partnership with the local administration have launched a manhunt over a man alleged to be supplying illegal beer to bars in the area.

Mr Kispang said members of pubic have informed the police that the beer supplier always carries milk to shops before distributing the beer.

He vowed to fight  against alcoholism in the area.
