The East African Portland Cement Company is seeking for good relationship with Mavoko community to enable it realise its objectives effectively.
The company's Managing Director Kepha Tande noted that it was not easy for the company to achieve its dreams without the local community's good will.
Tande, who addressed the residents at the Portland's land in Athi River on Thursday, said the company's land whose 99 year old lease had expired in 2010 had made locals develop cold relationship with the firm.
He said the company's management had no intention to frustrate the community members in any way claiming it was the government's mandate to address the land issue.
The residents, through their spokesman Mr Nathan Mutua, said they had no problem with the company arguing they had lived with it as good neighbours since 1969.
Mutua said they were just concerned because their requests to be supported by the company in order to improve their livelihoods had hit a snag.
"We have lots of problems as residents as we live in slums and under abject poverty and our requests to the company for support have on several occasions hit a dead end," said Mutua.
Tande said the company would intervene through its cooperate department to support the residents so that they move from carton houses and improve their living standards.
