Female students have been urged to take up sciences subjects with seriousness in order to compete with the boy child and bring more development to the society.
Speaking in Nakuru over the weekend, an official from Save the Girl Child organisation, Wambui Mwangi said girls should change their attitude towards science subjects if they want to achieve their vision and outdo their male counterparts.
Mwangi was speaking in a Nakuru hotel during a girl child empowerment workshop for the Rift Valley region.
"If you dream of competing with boys then you must do what they are doing and make sure you do it better than them," said Mwangi.
She opined that science subjects, which are considered hard by many learners, must be taken seriously if young people want to bring development and change in the society.
She cautioned girls against staying idle and hoping that successful men will come to their rescue in the future.
"There is nothing for free you must work hard for it for you to achieve your goal," she stressed.
She urged them to change their attitude towards science subjects saying if one excels in them, they have a better chance of succeeding in life than in other disciplines.
"Only science subjects can change your life. The other subjects are also important, but sciences will take girls far in life," she said.
