Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged the quality assurance department at the Ministry of Education to ensure that all colleges meets the required standards of training.
Speaking from his office on Thursday, Chemno said that there has been an increased rate of mushrooming colleges in Eldoret Town offering courses that cannot fit the job market.
"My officials from Uasin Gishu ministry of education have conducted their survey and found out that there are colleges that are in operation and yet they are not registered. Students are denied the chance to sit for their national examination while others advertise courses they are not accredited to offer," he said.
He urged the ministry to conduct their duties effectively since most parents and students pay money without knowing that the schools are not registered.
Chemno also challenged parents to research on the schools before they settle on having their children admitted.
