Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has called on all stakeholders to support peace programmess taking place in the county.

Speaking at Eldoret town on Sunday, Chemno challenged elected leaders, professional groups and students among others in the county to use their positions to champion for peaceful co-existence.

He said that the county needs peace and stability to realise its social, economic and political development agenda.

Chemno said that peace is the responsibility of every leader and citizen. 

The deputy governor intimated that the county government is ready to partner and work with professionals, sports peace and the community to promote peace.

He further called for cooperation among North Rift leaders on peace campaigns. He said that for a long time, the region has been painted negatively and that it is time for leaders to restore their image.

The deputy governor also asked the national government through relevant agencies to partner with the county to promote peace and unity among the communities.

He said that issues to do with peace and stability require the support of every partner adding that peace campaigns will soon be rolled out across the region with the aim of encouraging harmony and unity among the different communities.
