Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Daniel Chemno has advised youths to avoid irresponsible that would prevent them from achieving their goals.
Chemno says that youths can achieve their visions easily if they stay focus and steer away from distractions like drug abuse and crime.
Speaking to journalists from his office on Saturday, the Uasin Gishu deputy governor said drug and substance abuse has been the major challenge facing youths in the country.
He said that youths are often trapped into drug abuse through peer influence.
“I advise our young people to shun bad ways or acts that will hinder them from realizing their goals,” he said.
Chemno also advised youths to associate with people who will add value to their lives. He said that the county government is very much concerned with the welfare of youths.
Chemno revealed that the county has started programmes meant to mentor and empower the youth socio-economically.
He said sporting activities and tournaments are among the programmes being held in the county with aim of bringing empowering youths.
The Deputy Governor encouraged youths to participate in the sports activities as they will provide them with an opportunity to advance their talents.
