Uasin Gishu County deputy governor, Daniel Chemno has cautioned nurses who neglect their duties leaving patients in jeopardy that he will not condone the habit.
Speaking at the Ziwa level four hospital when he stormed the facility on Friday and found that no staff was in the facility, Chemno said that nurses were employed to perform their duties as their job description states and cases of desertion of duty will not be tolerated.
"This is clearly a case of desertion of duty by the nurses and I will not tolerate such and all those who were absent from duty I need formal explanation where you were," demanded deputy governor Chemno.
The deputy governor stormed the hospital facility after he was called by a patient for staying for over six hours with no one attending to them.
"I urge patients to be on the watch and report any nurse who is not on duty and I promise that stern actions will be taken against him or her since it is their right to receive appropriate services," he added.
