An administrative chief from Nyatieno location, Kitutu Masaba constituency has cautioned residents against using a path following incidents of unprecedented attacks targeting females.

Speaking during a funeral service in his area of representation on Tuesday, Mr Charles Orina urged residents to stay away from the path in the late evening hour besides promising an expeditious remedy to the persistent attacks targeting women and children.

According to him, the area has reported at least 10 cases in a record period of one week, making him to take the decisive action of closing the path at night.

“It’s the responsibility of the government to protect its own people and that is why I have taken the initiative. The area has recorded a high number of incidents where people have been attacked and robbed with one other case of rape. It isn’t safe to use the route till I authorise otherwise,” he said.

He warned against using the path and emphasised that whoever will be found using the path will be held liable for all the incidents that had been reported to his office.

“If anyone is found violating the directive, the government will not hesitate to take an action against him or her. We have taken the decision as a measure to pursue those attacking innocent residents,” he said.

Orina said his administration had an individual who is believed to be an outsider and he was taken to Keroka police station for further interrogation.
